A day in this well preserved small medieval town, UNESCO World Heritage Site, best known as the birthplace of St. Francis. Walking through the narrow streets of the ancient town, the local guide will take you to the Piazza del Comune with the Palazzo dei Priori; the Church of Santa Chiara, where St. Francis was born; the Basilica of St. Francis, which contains the sacred relics of St. Francis, with frescoes by the late-medieval artists Cimabue and Giotto, one of the most important places of Christian pilgrimage in Italy; the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli, one of the largest sanctuaries of the christian world, which houses the Porziuncola Chapel and where St. Francis die.
